If you are following my blog you know I am an art lover. I get excited with vibrant and colorful artworks. Yulia Brodskaya is under these categories, as she is a highly regarded paper artist and illustrator. Her works involves the placement of carefully cut and bent strips of paper, glued together, to create three-dimensional paper artworks.
Even though, she started working as a graphic designer, the hand drawn illustrations and paper craft attracted her more. Through experimentation, she managed to discover modern ways to do paper craft and that helped her find her ID. “Paper always held a special fascination for me. I’ve tried many different methods and techniques of working with it, until I found the way that has turned out to be ‘the one’ for me: now I draw with paper instead of on it”. She starts with a detailed sketch and then she glues carefully her cut strips of paper because once they are glued, they cannot be removed without damaging the background. Her artworks can take from a few days to few weeks to make, depending on the design complexity and the size.
Her unique artworks earned her an international reputation, where she created a list of big clients like Hermes, Starbucks, Cadbury, The Guardian, The New York Times Magazine, Washington Post, New York Observer, Issey Miyake, Wimbledon, Clarks, Ford, Paramount Pictures and many more. Moreover, she is frequently invited to speak at design conferences and design schools around the world.
