TBWAHakuhodo, a japanese advertising agency, has created the “3D on the rocks” an award winning campaign made for their client Suntory Whisky. “3D on the rocks” are 3D ice cubes that represent landmarks and characters. You can drink your Suntory Whisky with the Statue of Liberty, the Sphinx or Batman.
Using Autodesk 123D to capture the images and creates the 3D designs. Then a CNC (computer numerical control) router is used to carve the designs into the ice block. The carving takes 6 hours to make. The router was chilled at -7 degrees Celsius to avoid melting the ice. In the end “a touch of chilled whiskey polishes the surface of the ice and gives a beautiful shine to the sculpture,” Miwako Fujiwara from TBWA/Hakuhodo told CNET.
